Ongoing Care

Virtual Hosting

In order to get a web site published on the Internet it has to be placed on a server or host. This is a computer, running web server software, with its associated network and connected to the Internet. For economic reasons, it is best for smaller companies or individuals to use the services of their ISP or a hosting company. These companies usually have a large number of servers housed in secure premises and connected permanently to the Internet.

When a contract is set up between a user and a hosting company, password protected access is provided to allow web sites to be published and maintained. The user has exclusive use of part of a server. To the user, this looks like a whole server and is called a virtual server.

HazelGold puts numerous web sites within each Virtual Host and provided its customers agree to use the ongoing care and maintenance service, then the Virtual Host is provided at no extra cost.

HazelGold holds passwords for maintenance access to web sites belonging to different customers. These cannot be released to any of its customers since password access would permit access to other customers' area. Customers wishing to maintain their own site therefore need to have a separate host contract.
